Ahead of the Chinese New Year, local manufacturers are busy unveiling their new smartphones so people start a new year with a new device. What better time to flaunt a new device among family and friends. Meizu has also joined the launch bandwagon along with Xiaomi and Oppo. The teasers showing up hint at a 27th January launch. We cannot confirm what they plan to launch that day but we certainly can speculate. Most of the reports suggest that Meizu may launch a mini version of the Meizu M1 Note which was launched in December as the CEO of the company claimed that they will be bringing out a mini version soon.
Acording to Android Headlines the smartphone will be named M1 Mini. As it is going to be a mini version of the Meizu M1 Note, there will not be any changes in the hardware apart from the size. The M1 mini will sport a 5-inch display and will be powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6752 octa-core processor. Along with that the device will sport a 13-megpixel main and 5-megapixel front camera. As the teaser poster appeared on Ubuntu China Weibo page it is being speculated that the upcoming device will run on Ubuntu’s OS. Meizu and Canonical are collaborating to produce a Ubuntu Touch –powered handset.
