A few days ago OnePlus posted a teaser with a periodic table on it, we were thinking what the company was planning to announce and the next day they announced that they were working on bringing their own ROM named the Oxygen OS. Before hand OnePlus was making use of Cyanogen OS but they got slapped by a ban in India after Cyanogen went into partnership with Micromax for producing the YU series handsets. Afterwards the ban was lifted and the final ruling is expected this month. This made OnePlus very cautions and at that point the company announced that they will be working on producing their own Android based OS. We will be looking at this ‘powerful ROM’ on 12th February.
Some of the first images of what the Oxygen OS may look like have emerged show a very colorful UI and it is very different from Cyanogen’s UI. One of the images how the icons arranged in different categories, it’s a nice way to organize that. It is rumored that the company has hired the IUNI Os team to develop the Oxygen OS. OnePlus uses the slogan ‘Never Settle’ and they have assured users that they are working on something they would themselves love to use and they claim that Oxygen OS will be a ‘software that is open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features‘. With 12th February just a few days to go, let’s see what OnePlus has for us in-store.
