HTC has also announced their schedule for MWC, the company will be holding a press event at 1st March. The Taiwanese giant will reportedly be announcing the much anticipated HTC One M9 at the event and now the reports confirm that a fitness band will also grace the event. Beforehand there were speculations that HTC is working on a smartwatch, now the report out by Forbes confirms that the company indeed is coming out with a wearable but it is not a smartwartch but a fitness tracker. HTC seems to be honing on the trend of health and fitness conscious lifestyle and for their first attempt at a wearable they are choosing the fitness tracker. Smart choice on part of the company as they need to work out the knicks with their tracker before they dabble in an ambitious project like a smart watch.
HTC has been in the news a lot in the last couple of days courtesy of their upcoming flagship. Now the confirmation about the announcement of the device will definitely make HTC enthusiasts happy. HTC One M9 will feature the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB RAM and a 1080 p display. The smartphone will sport a 20-megapixel main camera and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop along with HTC’s Sense 7 UI. The Armor fitness app will also be pre-installed in it to accompany the fitness gear launched.
For the fitness tracker, the company is collaborating with Under Armor, a US-based sports clothing and accessories company. Under Armor has been dabbling with the fitness bands like Armor39, but did not manage to make an impact. So now the company is using their fitness expertise and collaborating with the tech giant HTC to produce a range of products.
Apart from these the company also reportedly plans to launch HTC Desire 626 at the event. Last year the company did not announce their flagship at the MWC but did it at a separate event later on, so we will have to see whether the company follows previous years patterns or unveils their flagship at the MWC and gives competitors a run for their money.
