Tizen is Samsung’s attempt at bringing out their own operating system like Android for their smartphones. One of the reasons that the unveiling of the Tizen powered smartphone was delayed was that the company wanted to work more on development of the OS. This is another bid by the company to bring out economical smartphones to boost their sales graph.
Samsung Z1 will be an entry-level smartphone which will sport a 4-inch 480 x 800 display, 3.2 MP rear camera and VGA front camera. The device will be equipped with a dual core 1.3 GHz Spreadtrum processor, a 512 MB RAM and a dual sim capability. We have no idea about what it looks like till yet, but the Z1 will retail at $90 and will be available online next month.
Well the smartphone in terms of specifications, offers nothing new, apart from the Tizen based operating system and maybe that is what the company is banking on to be its saving grace. Samsung will be launching this device in India which currently is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets of the world. Its not only Samsung who wants to get an edge there, other manufacturers are working towards bringing economical smartphone with great specifications; its quite a competitive market. As of what seen yet from companies like Micromax, Lenovo and OnePlus in terms of the quality of devices they are currently launching in India, Samsung will definitely have to push their game a bit if they want to boost their sales.
